What is Turtle House?

Is it a tiny home or a granny flat?

No. While Turtle House can be used as a secondary dwelling or family accommodation, it is not designed or positioned as a tiny home or granny flat. It is a premium building system designed around human wellbeing, distinctive architecture and commercial viability — applicable across multiple markets and scales.

What size is the standard model?

Turtle House is being developed in modular configurations. Indicative floor areas and specifications are available on request. The design is intended to feel spacious, calm and well-proportioned — not minimal or cramped.

Who is it designed for?

Turtle House is designed for wellness hospitality operators, aged care and retirement living providers, developers and landowners, construction partners — and individual buyers for selected residential projects. Contact us to discuss whether your project is a good fit.

What is included in the base configuration?

The base Turtle House configuration includes the structure, envelope, foundations, windows and doors, insulation and essential internal fit-out. Full inclusions and exclusions depend on specification, site and programme — details are available on request.

Is pricing available?

Indicative pricing is available on request and depends on specification, site conditions, location, approvals, delivery model and selected options. If a base figure of AUD $350,000 has been referenced in earlier conversations, this is an indicative starting point for a base configuration only — it excludes site-specific costs, approvals, services connections and any upgrades or customisation.

Is it relocatable?

The helical screw foundation system is designed to be removable, which means relocation may be possible in principle. Practical relocatability depends on the specific configuration, site conditions and applicable regulations. We recommend discussing this for any project where relocation is a consideration.

Are permits and approvals required?

Yes. Like any building, Turtle House projects will typically require development approval, building permit and relevant engineering certifications. Requirements vary by location, site type, council and intended use. We can provide general guidance and support the approvals process — but formal approval requirements must be assessed for each specific project.

What sites and terrains can it suit?
Turtle House is designed for a wide range of sites — including coastal, alpine, arid, urban, sloped and remote locations. Suitability depends on engineering assessment, site access, soil conditions and local approvals. The helical foundation approach reduces ground disturbance and expands site viability compared to conventional concrete-slab construction.
What is the thermal comfort and performance approach?
Turtle House is designed around high-performance building principles — with a focus on insulation quality, airtightness logic, thermal stability and reduced operational energy demand. The design is inspired by Passive House thinking without claiming certification at this stage. Performance details are available on request.
Is it Passive House certified?
Not at this stage. Turtle House is inspired by Passive House and high-performance building principles, and is designed to achieve strong thermal performance and low operational energy demand. Formal certification pathways are under consideration for future development stages.
What materials are used?
Turtle House uses natural, breathable and lower-impact materials wherever practical — prioritising indoor air quality, thermal performance, durability and material honesty. We aim to minimise reliance on high-carbon, synthetic and heavily processed construction materials. Detailed materials specifications are available on request.
How is it delivered?
Ecconiq coordinates design, component sourcing and delivery standards. Assembly is carried out by approved local construction partners working to Ecconiq’s documented system — enabling delivery close to site without heavy manufacturing infrastructure. No dedicated factory is required.
Can it be customised?
Within the Turtle House design system, some degree of configuration and customisation is available — including layout options, material choices and specification levels. The system is not a fully bespoke design service — the repeatable design logic is core to its consistency and commercial value.
